SHIBORI SCARF / INDIGO DYE WORKSHOP

Learn to Shibori stitch and dye your own scarf to take home, along with a tote bag and a small scarf bag!

Join Fran Reilly and Dr. Mary Harlow for a one day Shibori workshop, which includes a brief history of this traditional Japanese art form and the practical art of creating resist patterns on fabric. 


Stitch your own design into a fine wool scarf, an organic cotton tote bag and a small cotton scarf bag and prepare to dye them all in an Indigo vat.  (Alternative methods for creating patterns will also be taught for those less confident with stitching).

HALF-DAY SHIBORI STITCH WORKSHOP

Learn Shibori techniques to create beautiful and interesting designs onto fabric

Join Fran Reilly and Dr. Mary Harlow for a morning Shibori stitch workshop in this gorgeous venue - full of exciting gifts, furniture, antiques, clothes etc.  In this workshop you will learn a brief history of this traditional Japanese art form and the practical art of creating resist patterns on fabric. 

Stitch your own design into cotton cushion-sized squares and/or an organic cotton tote bag.  (Alternative methods for creating patterns will also be taught for those less confident with stitching).
Your items can then be dyed at home and made up into cushions if desired.

NATURAL DYES WORKSHOP

Explore the beautiful array of colours that can be achieved using natural dyes on wool skein, cotton and silk fabric.

Join Fran Reilly & Dr Mary Harlow to explore the variety of colours that can be achieved by using plants from the garden.  We will experiment dyeing wool skeins, silk and cotton fabric with at least 3 different dye vats.
